Your First Lesson

First thing's first

One of the most important thing a teacher can do is sit down and listen to the concerns of their students.  This first conversation usually lasts 10-20 minutes and it's where we will discuss your golfing experience, goals, physical limitations, strengths, and weaknesses.

Be sure to warm-up!

Warming up is highly personal and it isn't uncommon that some players need 30-45 to warm-up. This ensures that you get the most out of your lesson and helps avoid injuries.

Have one or two things in mind for your lesson

It’s easy to want to address five areas of your game for improvement, but it’s impossible to properly address these areas in 45 minutes. If you identify one area (like irons, bunker play, chipping, etc.) we can then successfully diagnose and create a practice plan for you to help improve your game.

Your game may get worse before it gets better.

Changing swing path, grip strength, or aiming point takes time for your brain and body to get use to. It’s ok if through a change you only hit big draws, that means the change is working; the most important thing is that you stick with the changes until it no longer feels foreign.

If you don't have clubs....

Fort Sam Houston Golf Course has clubs you can use during our lesson; I only ask that you give adequate notice so I can secure a proper set.

It's ok to smile!

Golf is a game, don’t allow yourself to forget that. Although the basic premise is simple enough (you just gotta get the ball in the hole, right?), it is one of the hardest games to master. No two shots will ever be the same, and that’s the best part of this beautiful game.
